I am excited to announce that youthprogramfire.com is here! This website has been a dream of mine for the past year or so, and I finally decided to stop talking about it and make it happen. This website will be a resource for anyone working with youth. If you are at the YMCA, Camps, P.E. Classes, Youth Groups/Clubs/Young Life, Parks and Recreation, or Birthdays! My vision is for this website to help or motivate you. I have over 17 years of experience in working with YMCA and youth related programming and training. I have often struggled to find ideas and things online to help me with my programs and to give me some FIRE! I have learned through my career that there is value in collaborations, starting new traditions, and applying new ideas. Come on and take a look around my website. I have tons of ideas to put in the resource zone and if you want to make a submission, please email me and you will get credit and one of your social media handles if you would like!
Where did the Logo come from? NBA Jam was one of my favorite video games as a kid and like many of my ideas, our past can create fun memories for the future. Alan Youngblood is one of my friends and owner of http://www.oakcityit.com helped me get my vision to reality. Boom Shaka Laka!
Charles Evans was a counselor with me back in the early 2000’s and had the BEST ideas. I miss him tremendously and kids still talk about him. You will notice that I gave tribute to him in the Resource Zone with his Games and Contest lists. He would always have a backpack full of these supplies to entertain over 100 kids at the blink of an eye. I have been using these lists ever since he showed them to me. He made me a better counselor and person as he showed patience and creativity that I have never seen working with kids before.
So take a look around the site, and join me on Social. I have a Youth Program Fire page on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! Spread the word to your friends and I love new ideas!
